Day 26

Today I was up at our sister school The Maples Academy!

Mr. H taught our class today this blog post was written by him

Journal entries - students wrote a journal entry about Fall. They filled in the following template:
I love fall because_________
Also because ____________
As well as because ________
Lastly because _________
These are the reasons I love fall.

Agenda
  • Movie day ticket purchases extended until Monday!!!!!
  • Rom money due
  • Cursive page 40
  • Lunch orders due Oct. 24th

Math For estimation we talked about the fact that estimation is just a guess based on what they see and I had them on the carpet and used counting blocks instead of drawing on the board.  I put different combinations of coloured counting block in one of your small green containers and had them estimate how many.  For fun, I even just grabbed a handful of blocks from the bin, showed them, and then had students estimate how many they think they saw.  I also discussed with them the fact that just because an estimate may be wrong, it doesn't mean that the estimator is wrong completely, it's just that they didn't have all the information to know the exact amount.

UOI - Anshi's game,

Students then had a little bit of time to work on their portfolio covers drawing the pictures of themselves.  I emphasized the detail and also making it big enough to fill the space provided but some of them could use more work.
