Daily 5 - We talked about our school and the rules and responsibilities we have at school.  We read a school pledge poem and stamped our finger print to show that we are going to try and stick to the words of the poem.

Math: today students discussed our math unit on patterning. We talked about what a pattern is, what makes up a pattern, and gave some examples. Students then completed their pre assessment for this unit. Please do not be alarmed . . . it was not a TEST! We complete a pre assessment before each math unit to see student prior knowledge and find out where we go next. We also use this data when completing our math graphs to show how each child changed over the unit!

We talked about our new unit of inquiry: relationships, rules, and responsibilities. We had a class discussion about what each one of those words meant. Some of us were even able to give examples of them. Then we read a story called David goes to school.

We talked about the rules and responsibilities we heard about in the story and discussed. We then made a list of rules for our classroom. Once we completed this list each one of use picked a rule a created a picture showing how we will follow the rule:

Afterwards we discussed our responsibilities within the classroom and school. We created what is know in IB terms as our essential agreement. Students collaborated to develop an Essential Agreement, which they believe will create a better learning environment.  In fact, they have even signed their name in a display of commitment toward the classroom goals!

We ended our day by have gym class with Ms. Jans, you can check out her blog at https://janspe1.blogspot.ca/

We also attended a house game, where one of our very own participated in quite an intense game of musical chairs! Way to be a risk taker Kayla!
