Tomorrow is dress in the clothing of your culture for our presentation of our dolls. We have other classes coming to view our dolls and ask us questions about our culture. This is part of our report card marks for this unit.

Cultural Dolls
Students have been learning about how people show their culture through different art forms. Students have been asked to discuss with you this weekend their cultural background. Some have an idea and some are unsure!
Students on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday IN CLASS will be creating a 2D paper doll that will represent their cultural dress. That being said we are asking if students are able to bring some fabric, decals, etc. to help them create their doll. The doll is the size of a regular piece of paper. So scraps of material work best.
On THURSDAY. students will be presenting their dolls to the class and are asked to briefly discuss what their culture is, why they wear this outfit etc. really this is their time to brag about their cultural background! We will also be inviting students from other classes to come and view our dolls.
Lastly we ask if at all possible that on THURSDAY students come dressed in their cultural dress to match their dolls.
SPRING FUNDRAISER!!!!! Our annual Spring Fundraiser is fast approaching. This year our Spring Fundraiser will run from Monday, April 16 to Friday, April 20. All of the funds raised this year will go towards improving technology for our classrooms. Each day that week, we will host a different activity. For $2 on Monday, students can dress like a ‘Pirate.’ On Tuesday, enjoy a bag of popcorn for $2. Wednesday is Pancake Breakfast. Order 1 pancake for $2 or 3 pancakes for $5. Gluten-free pancakes are also available! 1 gluten-free pancake for $2.50 or 3 for $6.00. On Thursday, enjoy an ice cream sundae for $5. Sundaes include two scoops of vanilla OR chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce. Add a banana or apple for $1. To wrap up the week we will be hosting a dance party for $5. Order forms have been sent home and will be due no later than Thursday, April 12. For students who collect a minimum of $35, they will get to enjoy a morning or afternoon at Kidsport. Please use the pledge sheet provided and be sure to turn in on a daily basis! Daily prizes for the most amount of money brought in are; bonus casual days, getting to sit at your teacher’s desk for a day, or shooting Mr. Foster with a Nerf gun. School wide fundraising targets will allow students the opportunity to give Mr. Rozario a makeup lesson or water balloon their teachers. So, get out there SJA, and raise some money!!!!!
Arts' Night Update!
We are excited to let you know that our Arts' Night performances this year will be held at The City Church auditorium located on Argentina road, just a 3 minute drive from the school. With this new venue, we have extra lighting, surround sound, a larger and higher stage, more seating, and much more! This will give you and your family
St. Jude's FC, the official soccer academy affiliated with St. Jude's Academy is taking applicants for its inaugural season. Ou coaches are eager to prove that we have the best program in the area.
By joining the Club you are becoming part of the team. Club members have the opportunity to play games against the other Ontario Academy teams for the spring/summer outdoor season on the weekend. Club members and SJA students alike enjoy the top notch training from our professional coaches, but Club members get additional coaching.
SJA students receive a 33% discount benefit (because we already know SJA students are awesome!)
Club members get a complete uniform (you provide cleats and shin guards)

Students began our new unit - Measurement. Today we talked about standard (ruler, metre stick, measuring tape) and non standard units (markers, erasers, glue sticks) We talked about why it is not a good idea to use pencils or crayons (unless they are brand new and all the same length)
