Language

Today students completed their OWA assessment. Students were required to write a letter to Ms. Smith convincing her of their opinion on the best season!

Math
Today we looked at capacity. We talked about containers and cups. Some of us were very surprised to see that some containers held more water than we thought. Students learned that when a container is filled to the top it means its at capacity.
Inquiry into habitats -
Today students created their own habitat. They decided whether the weather was hot or cold. Whether the habitat was a land or ocean one. What plants that grew there (some were made up!) What animals lived there (some were made up!) Where in the world the habitat is located and lastly the name of their habitat.

Novel Study
today students listened to chapter 4 of our novel study and completed comprehension questions based on Magic Treehouse Afternoon on the amazon.

Concerned about their destination, Jack once again refers to the book for information. The Amazon River is 4,000 miles long and stretches all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. Jack begins taking notes in his notebook as Annie investigates the fish that are swimming alongside their canoe. They have sharp teeth. He warns his sister that they can eat people.
Jack plans to grab a vine and pull them to shore, but when he grabs one, the "vine" is a cold scaly snake that falls into the water and swims away. Annie reaches for what she thinks is another branch, but this time it's a crocodile. Annie lets go and is surprised to hear a monkey screech from a nearby tree.

Math - today students continued our last unit of the year. We reviewed what mass means and then in groups we tested our hand at measuring (with a scale)

Language
today students organized their opinion of whether or not students have their own ipads in class. Once students organized their opinion they then wrote it in letter format to Mr. Rosario.

Inquiry into habitats - students worked on drawing a picture of what they think the ocean looks like.
