Day 106




Calendar- the special helpers put up the date, counts down to 100 days of school, and tells us what the weather is like today.

UOI with language focus- today we focused on our journal writing for our OWA assessment that will be taking place tomorrow. We discussed how students needed to first do a brain storm and then ensure they were adding detail to their sentences. Students were reminded that they needed to give a minimum of 5 sentences.

Math- today we went over vertices, edges, and faces. We completed an activity on counting each of these for various 3D shapes. We were given plastic 3D shapes and dry erase markers and told we could mark them to help us count faces, edges, and vertices. 
We had lots of fun. 


UOI - Today we looked at pictures of old and new inventions. We sorted them based on if they were used in the past or the present. This created some debate as some of us stated chalk boards and chalk are still used in some classrooms!

Day 104

You Dear SJA Families, 
A quick reminder in regards to our uniforms for the different grade groups. 
JK- Grade 2 gym uniforms are to be worn on Mondays and Wednesdays. After a weekend where Monday is a holiday students will return to school on the Tuesday in their dress uniform. 
For grades 3 and up students are asked to come dressed each day in their dress uniform and bring their gym uniforms daily to change.
Grades 4 and up should be wearing the blazer (or house hoody) each day. They will wear it in the hallways and on trips but have the option of removing it in the classroom. 
Lastly, our Spring uniform will be in effect when we return from the Easter Holiday weekend. 
Thank you everyone for your cooperation,  

The lunch ordering system is open for March. Parents you may log in with your created emails and passwords and order for the month. A reminder that the system closes on Feb. 24th at 4:00pm.  All lunch payments must be received by Feb 27th in order for the orders to be processed. If you have any questions you can contact  bsmith@stjudesacademy.com


The MYP students are hosting a school wide casual day on Friday, February 24to raise money for a mock trial competition they are attending. For $2 students will be able to come to school dressed as a lawyer, judge, criminal or police officer. Students who do not want to participate will be required to wear their school uniform. Those who are participating in Oral Competition Day will be allowed to change into their uniform before their speeches.

Math- Today we continued our discussion on 2D shapes. Students were given a template of 2D shapes and told to create a picture with it When they were done students traded with a partner and recorded how many of each shape was used.  


UOI - Today we got into groups of three and picked an Inventor to research. We began looking at the inventors biography and recording information about them. We wrote two interesting facts about our inventor.

SJA Parent Guild is hosting another fantastic movie night and dance. It will take place on Friday, February 24 from 6:30-9:00 PM (free childcare from 6-6:30) in the SJA auditorium. The movie is Pixar Short Films (PG). Tickets are $10 each and included popcorn, bottle water, and a treat. Pizza will also be available for $2 a slice.

Today we spent most of our day practicing being a good audience and listening to our class present their poems as well as Mr. Foster's. There was some pretty good poems with actions!
