Day 72

Students Worked on an Art project with their Reading Buddies

  • We are in charge of the bake sale and are will be responsible for bringing in items that are nut free and also made in a nut free facility - items from Tim Hortons cannot be accepted.

  • Speeches package sent home to be completed and returned by Jan. 9th.
  • Math review sent home to refresh and remember over the break

Day 71




Craft 

Students worked on making Christmas cards using different cut up pieces of already made cards










Inquiry into Math 
Students learned how to estimate sums and differences using round to the nearest 100. Rounding to the nearest hundred is review from our first unit. We reviewed that if the number in the tens and ones is 50+ we round the first number up! If the number in the tens and ones is 49- then the first number stays the same. Here is an example
 




Christmas Concert 
We bussed to the dome to watch! Some of us even helped by handing out programmes and water!

  • Gr.3-8 Christmas Concert Tues.
  • On December 17, 2019, students from Grade 3 to Grade 8 will put on two performances at the St. Jude’s Academy Dome. Our afternoon performance will begin at 1:00 pm, with doors opening at 12:30. Our evening performance will begin at 6:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:15 pm. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Please keep in mind that outside food and drinks are not permitted in the Dome.

    For our evening performance, families are welcome to take our shuttle from St. Jude’s to the Dome and back. Shuttles will begin running from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Please meet in the main office.

    We encourage all families to come bundled up to stay warm and cozy for the entire show. The students and teachers have put a tremendous amount of work into their performances and kindly ask that all families stay and enjoy the show until the end.

Inquiry into Language 
Students completed their spelling workout book for their words of the week.

Students completed a Christmas Diorama


Inquiry into Math

We then took it one step further by adding or subtracting the rounded numbers together to find an accurate estimate.


We then completed practice in our workbooks and math journals
