April 29th

Inquiry into Language 
Today we worked in our spelling workout book. There will be no spelling test this week. Instead students are asked to please write all of their words in a story in their spelling test books, this is due Friday.

Today students worked on learning about the millilitre.

Inquiry into Structures
Today students took out their UOI folders and picked pieces to add to their IB Binders. Students picked 4 pieces of work, one for each of the following dividers

1. My best work
2. Something I worked my hardest on
3. Something I need to improve on
4. A way I showed a learner profile

Students then had an introduction into our new unit of inquiry on endangered/extinct species. They maybe very excited about something called 4ocean please check it out at

Inquiry into Structures
Students got together in their group of 3 or 4 to put the finishing touches on their structure and to fill in the written component explaining the purpose of their structure, the changes they made over the construction process of their structure from the plan and the reasons why they made these changes. Once that was complete the made a final list of materials and drew and labelled their final product.

Inquiry into Language 
Today we read the story 

Students were then told to discuss Pigeon's opinion of why he should stay up late 

Students were then told they needed to brainstorm reasons for the opinion of why Pigeon should not stay up late. Once that was done they wrote a letter to the Pigeon telling him their opinion and reasons. 


Inquiry into Math

Today students worked on adding dollar amounts together, finding the difference, and finding change amounts


Reflection on Structures 
Today our egg drop groups took their structure for Humpty Dumpty outside and threw them off the play structure to see if they needed to make any adjustments this afternoon.
