May 3rd



Hello Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

On Thursday, May 10th, we would like to invite to our SJA parents and guardians to attend our upper school theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet being hosted at the University of Toronto Mississauga MiST Theatre (3359 Mississauga Rd, Mississauga, ON L5L 1C6) for FREE! The performance will begin at 6:30pm.

For your enjoyment, SJA PYP teachers will be hosting a FREE SJA dance in the SJA auditorium for your children, so you can sit back and relax. The dance drop off will begin at 6:00pm.

To reserve your tickets for the dance and the theatre performance, please e-mail Kaitlin at reception@stjudesacademy.com. Limited tickets are available and are available on a first-come first-served basis. 

Spelling Bee

In class completion May 11th - 3 finalists will move on to the stage competition on May 15th

A list of words were sent home in the agenda to practice.

Exhibition 

We are asking students to be please arrive Friday before 9am so we can start right away the entire school will be watching. We will be in the auditorium all morning.

  • Lunch payments are due on Friday, May 4th, 2018.

  • Exhibition with black light show beginning 9 am tomorrow 
For arts’ night our class will be required to come dressed as “old people” as determined by Mr. Oliver. 

Students will need to bring their outfits twice to school for performances including a video performance. Dates will be relayed in a few days as to when the outfits need to be brought in.

Math
We continued our new unit on 2D shapes. We will be learning about the triangle, circle, rectangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, octagon. Today we discussed edges(sides) and vertices as well. 
 

Language 


Today we took our organized our opinion on why or why not students should have more recess time and wrote a letter to Mr. Sawatsky telling him our opinion. 



Inquiry into Habitats


Today students were introduced to our next Novel Study "Afternoon on the Amazon." I read the back of the book to the students and then they drew a cover for their novel study folder. 

We ended our day by having gym class with Ms. Yustin, you can check out her blog at https://sjaayustin.blogspot.ca/ 

Today we visited Ms. Khan's class and learned about the Islands they created and the governments and policies that reside there. We then voted on which island we would like to live on.
