Anti Bullying Day

This morning we had an assembly to learn about Anti-Bullying Day

Inquiry into Language
Today students learned what it means to be open-minded!

We read the story

As a class we brainstormed what being open-minded means to us. Then we wrote the definition and a time we were open-minded.

Inquiry into Math
Today students took up the math review to ensure we all had the correct answers and understood all the key concepts.

Today students wrote their good copy of their plan of an explanation of their favourite game. Once completed they exchanged their writing with another classmate to peer edit.

Inquiry into Math
Today students used their knowledge of 3D solids and shape faces to explore nets of 3D solids

Inquiry into Simple Machines

On Friday Table groups were given a challenge:

Today students wrote their predictions and tested their vehicles on different surfaces of our inclined plane such as aluminum foil, sand paper, wax paper, and plain paper. We measured the distances travelled on each surface and recorded it in our chart next to our predictions.

Action

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop.

Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

If your child performs action at home please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know and they will be placed on our action wall of fame!

Spelling Words and Homework

Each Friday there will be a spelling test for the words of the week. Students will bring the words home every Monday in their agenda.

Create a story using your spelling words!!

1. Choose 8 of your spelling words

2. decide if your story will be fiction or non-fiction

3. write an introduction (Once upon a time, In a land far away, One day. . .)

4. write the body of your story (remember to use sentence starters)

5. write a conclusion (finally, lastly, in the end, in conclusion . . .)

6. Proofread your work time!!!!
