Unit of Inquiry -
yesterday we talked about responsibility and what it means to us. We then talked about different types of responsibilities we have at home and in school. Once we finished this we talked about classroom jobs. We discussed their importance and the jobs we need done. Students then picked their jobs.
Students have had a lot of questions about Terry Fox. About his leg, his journey, why we raise money, what cancer is and why he died. They still may come home tonight with more questions or concerns. We also talked about just because you feel a pain like Terry did does not mean that you have cancer. We also talked about how not everyone gets cancer and certainly that not everyone who has cancer dies.
We looked at a map of Canada as well as reading the story to show his journey.
Math: today students discussed our math unit on patterning. We reviewed what a pattern is, what makes up a pattern, and gave some examples. Students then reviewed the 5 attributes for patterning and sorting.
1. Colour
2. Shape
3. Size
4. Direction
5. Numbers/letters
