Day 75

Inquiry into Language 
Today students presented what they had for their oral speech competition. Students were given feedback in their speech packages. Please be sure to send the speech package for each check in, in order to receive feedback. We will continue tomorrow due to time constraints.



Inquiry into Cultures
Students reviewed the story - My First Chinese New Year.

Then they finished their dragons from yesterday


Afterwards we began our new Novel Study

Horrible Harry and the Holidaze (Puffin Chapters)

Students completed a pause and predict. They looked at the cover, read the back blurb and the chapter titles. They then wrote a prediction of something they think is happening in the story based off what they viewed. Afterwards students created a new cover for the book.






Gym

Inquiry into Math 
Students learned a math strategy for adding double digit numbers today. You break apart the second number into tens and ones.

  • Bring back your re-registration packages for grade 3! Our Junior Kindergarten (JK) Registration season is fast approaching and we wanted to reach out to all of our families and friends to ensure that you are offered priority enrolment in our JK Program for the 2020-2021 academic year. Please let us know if you are interested in enrolling your child in our JK Program by Friday, January 10, 2020 at 4:00 pm. After this date and time, the spots will open up to new families on the waitlists.  
    Fine Art – Cultural Artifacts
    In our current unit, we are learning about a range of cultures from around the world. For an in-class artwork assignment we want to use an artifact (from our own cultural background) and use our fine art skills to ‘draw what you can see’.
    We kindly ask that your child brings in an artifact from their culture to sketch. This artifact should be able to comfortably fit on your child’s desk. 
    Artifacts can include but are not limited to the following:
    -       Mask
    -       Pottery
    -       Dolls/Figurines
    -       Coin
    -        Religious artifact (eg. icon)
    -       Jewelry
    Please bring your artifact by Tuesday, January 14th.
    Artifacts will be returned at the end of this unit in January.
