Inquiry into Language
Students continued to learn about Explanation writing for their upcoming OWA. Today they were given the brainstorm of Sparky the Dog. They had to read all the ideas and put them in order of how they thought the ideas should appear in the paragraph. Once done students then began to write their paragraph. They were given this checklist to follow:
The OWA requires students to write an explanation of a robot they invented. Sparky the Dog is set up the same way as they would write for the OWA explanation. By completing this students were able to visually see what is required of them and how to do it. Students will complete their own about a newly invented iPad next.

Today students continued to work on recognizing names, edges, vertices and faces of 3D prisms and pyramids.
We then reviewed how to write the names of the solids
1. start with identifying if it is a prism or pyramid
2. look at the shapes (bottom for pyramid or sides for prism) to identify name
3. We learned a triangular pyramid is also known as a tetrahedron
Lastly we reviewed the faces of the shapes
