Novel study
Students took turns reading the chapter out loud
We answered the questions in our novel study packages. Students were reminded to use part of the question in their answer.
In the book we learned about Korean New Year and how they bow to their ancestors one knee if a girl, two if a boy. We tried it ourselves
Inquiry into Simple Machines
Today students continued to use their plans to create their vehicles in their table groups.
we reviewed safety in regards to using scissors and glue guns. We talked about how to safely puncture holes using scissors. We also talked about how/where to hold a hot glue gun. How to squeeze the glue gun and how to press items together using popsicle sticks and not our fingers when using the hot glue gun.
Inquiry into the Learner Profiles
This month we are learning about being open minded. We brainstormed what being open minded means to us:
Then we read a story about a boy and a dragon who were open minded by being each other's pen pal without knowing anything about each other --- like that one of them was a dragon!
We then created our open minded posters
