• Please complete pages 2-3 in the math work book. 

The stretch your thinking portion is not a required component but can be completed for house points!

please please remember to return the math book on Monday as we will need to work out of it!

• I have also placed a folder with a reading log in the agenda. When a student reads whether Raz kids or their own book please record. Each time a student fills a sheet they will win a prize from the bin! If you do not wish to use raz kids and would like me to send home one of my levelled readers please let me know!

Today we used most of the day to present our All About Me Bags. Some of us did not get to finish and we will need to finish on Monday!

Birthday Book Club

You’re Invited to Join
THE BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB!

On your birthday (or in your birthday month*) bring a book for the library and become a Birthday Book Club Member!  You will:
(1) get to put a special nameplate in the front of the book with your name and birthday
(2) be the very first to sign the book out
(3) get a Birthday Picture with Melvil, the Library Mascot,  is displayed in the
library and here on the blog, and
(4) get a Birthday Book Club Bookmark and a small gift from the prize box

Day 2

Language - Today we finished up our birthday cards just in time for our first birthday of the year tomorrow! Then we moved on to completing an all about me activity. We talked about being members of a community and how we must all get a long and the best way to start with this is by getting to know each other. Each student filled in an all about me flag (you can find them located on our UOI board in the classroom)

Math - Today students completed their patterning of place value pre-assessment. Please do not panic at the word pre-assessment! This was not a test! It was just a way for me to assess their prior knowledge in the topic and where we need to go!

French - Today we had a very important house game of freeze dance!!!! Some of our friends participated!

UOI - We talked about what it means to be a member of a community and how all of us impact our communities. We talked about the importance of our classroom community and of the whole school community.  We talked about how rules govern communities especially our classroom and how they are important to keep us safe and keep order. We talked about differences and how they are important among the members of a community in order to make change and help each other.

Daily Five - in table groups students brainstormed about the attitude of curiosity. They used markers and chart paper to write their ideas. They then presented them to the class.
Next we learned about the learner profile of thinker. Students wrote what their definition of Inquirer was and what they can do to be one. They then drew a picture.

Day 1

Welcome Everyone!!!!

We had a great and very busy first day!!

We started our day by playing a Guess Who game to get to know each other.  Students filled in questions and then I read them aloud and we had to guess who we thought it was. If the guess was right students won a house point!

Next we went over where our tools and items were located in the classroom and the school.

After lunch and recess we got out our agendas and wrote the following note:

• All about me bag (instructions in the agenda and on bloomz) 
• Welcome Bbq (order forms in the agenda) 
• Reminder for all parents to join Bloomz!

• Reminder to fill in the pages in the welcome package given out on Orientation night. If you were unable to attend you will find one in your agenda bag!

Next we had gym with Ms. Yustin

After second lunch and recess we came back inside and began making birthday cards to ensure everyone in the class will receive one on their birthday! As part of our unit on being a community and impacting the members with our kindness! We did not have time to finish due to a HOUSE GAME!!!! GO ZETTTAAAAAAAAAAAA whoop whoop!

You can use miniature objects, magazine pictures, photos or anything else that will fit in your bag. Bring your bag to school any time before Friday to share with your classmates. It is going to be an awesome year!
