Day 77

Inquiry into Language Arts 

Today we completed our spelling work out book for our weekly spelling words! Heads up to a change happening for our spelling paragraph homework, students will now need to pick 8 words for their paragraphs which at times could mean writing more sentences.




Speeches check in
Today we listened to some speeches to get an idea of how ours sound in comparison to others. We went over time limits and things we could add to make them longer....

Inquiry into Addition and Subtraction

Today students worked on 3 digit subtraction using the strategy of base ten blocks.
Step 1 = make your first number
Step 2 = take away your second number
*reminder start at the ones, do you have enough? No then trade in a ten for ten ones and then take away, yes then take away and move on to tens, do you have enough tens? No then trade in a hundred for ten tens then take away, yes then take away and move on to hundreds
Step 3 = write your answer

- Grade 1 grocery store on Thursday January 24th, all money raised will go towards Sick Kids Hospital

Inquiry into Cultures 

Today we continued to learn about Chinese New Year. We focused on the zodiac and found out which animal year we were born in. We then read our horoscope and discussed what we found to be similar to us and what we found to be different.
