We have been working very hard to catch up on all our missed time over the last few days!

Inquiry into Language 

On Monday - We worked on our spelling workout book. This week is review week. Students need to pick 8 review words and write them in their agenda for Friday. In class on Friday they will write them in a detailed paragraph. Students can practice writing the paragraph in their green books where they normally write the paragraph each week.





On Wednesday - We read chapter 4 of our novel study. The chapter was titled "Crash." We answered comprehension questions about the chapter.


Inquiry into Math

On Monday we completed our Unit 2 math test. Tests  will come home Thursday.

On Wednesday we completed our Pre-test for our new Geometry unit. This unit students will be learning
2D shapes
3D shapes - prisms and pyramids
congruent shapes
parallel lines
equal sides
faces, vertices, edges,

Agenda 
- work on speeches
A note regarding speeches – Due to our growing population at SJA, this year speeches will be split into two days. On Thursday, February 7th, JK-Grade 2 will recite their poems and stories and on Friday, February 8th, Grade 4-8 will recite their speeches.
- return library books

- RE-REGISTRATION packages due soon hand in ASAP to secure your spot in Grade 3! A note from Ms. Melissa regarding re-registration packages - Just a friendly reminder that re-registration packages are due no later than Monday, February 11.  After this time, spots will be opened up to the public and your child will not be guaranteed a space for next year.  We look forward to seeing you back for next year!
Jump Rope for Heart - It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca - preferred method, extra prizes awarded. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA!
Book Fair – Ms. Hayward and her book fair crew have already begun discussing our book fair. It will be taking place during the week of February 4th to 8th.

Inquiry into Cultures/Simple Machines 

Monday - We picked our pieces for our IB Binders. Students chose 1 piece of work to represent
1. their best work
2. something they worked their hardest on
3. something they feel they need to improve on 
4. a way they showed a learner profile 

Wednesday - Worked on the K and W of a KWL chart. Students wrote what they Know and What they want to learn

We then added to the L part of our chart - Learned.

Afterwards we worked on a word search with vocabulary for our new unit.
