Day 17

Fall Festivities this week (each day was pre-paid)

Friday - Dance and casual dress. If your child isn't going to the dance but wants to come in casual dress they can bring a $2 that day.

Inquiry into Language 

yesterday students were introduced to their novel study Song Lee in Room 2B. We looked at the title, the cover pictures, the blurb on the back and the chapter titles. Students made a prediction about something they thought might happen in the story based on these text clues. 

Today students listened to chapter 1 and answered the comprehension questions. We learned how to answer the questions by using part of it in our response. 

Inquiry into Citizenship

Yesterday students were told that a big storm was coming and they had fifteen minutes to pack their suitcases full of their needs to go somewhere away from a storm. Students were told   you are only given 1 suitcase that you can pack to take with you and there is only limited space what would you take? They were told they could go somewhere warm or cold and they had to leave a section in their suitcase blank. They were then told to think about what we’ve learned about wants and needs. We then brainstormed a few items as a class. A timer was then set and students were told to draw their items in the case. With 4 minutes left to spare students were  told they can use the sectioned off corner to draw their wants. 

Today students laid out their suitcase drawings and did a gallery walk to check out what other friends packed. They then recorded in list format 4 things they liked in other friends' suitcases and 4 things they forgot.

Today we reviewed ordinal numbers and base ten names, words, and pictures for our upcoming test.

Agenda - We didn't write in our agendas today because we had reading buddies!

• Fall Fundraiser pledge forms due if you bring in the highest amount of money tomorrow you get to pie a teacher of your choice
• Interview sheet due 
• Spelling paragraph due 
• Spelling test 
• Cursive to page 30 due Mon Sept 30
• Casual Dress who those who have paid, if not dont worry you can still dress and pay a $2. Snack bar open during dance.
• Math review due Mon.
