International Kindness Day

Inquiry into Language

Today students worked on different kindness activities. First we picked a random act of Kindness that we decided we were going to complete this week. Students then wrote them on a heart we attached to our door.

Next we chose a minimum of two kind things were were going to say today to people and wrote them on hands.

Science Fair
We completed the second run of our science experiment and still received the same results. We discussed how this was good to show that our experiment was truthful. We then started to get together  items for our boards.

Inquiry into Immigration
Today students were told a person immigrated to Canada over the weekend. They came to our school to look at it. When that person was here they left their jacket, which had 4 very important documents in it that would tell us about that person and their journey. That jacket was left on the playground where everything had blown out.

Students then learned those documents were
A passport
A postcard
A ticket
A important document
Students were then sent outside to find these items including his jacket.

Afterwards we looked at the passport and learned his name was Mustafa Abdullafraam and he was from Syria.

Then we read the postcard that showed us a picture of where he was from and his hardships he faced to get to Canada.

Next we looked at the important document and we figured out it was a student visa and he was in Canada to study!

Lastly we looked at the ticket which we learned was an airplane ticket. It told us he arrived on Sunday.

Students then began to work in a booklet to put together information about Mustafa
