Inquiry into language
Students learned about reading a map today. They answered questions about a map of a park. Students were then given a choice to create their own map of either their bedroom, neighbourhood, a local park or a treasure map. Students were then given an example with criteria to follow.
Math
Students continued with their new addition and subtraction unit. Today we discussed near doubles and doubles strategies to help with addition. For example is 2+2=4 then 2+3= 5 (1 more because 3 is one more than 2)
We also discussed making ten. For example: 7+5= we know that 7+3=10 and we borrowed the 3 from the 5 so it would then be 10+2=12
